Distribution Warehouse Lead
Main Functions
Position Objective: Ensure the safe, timely, and efficient operation of the LBI USA central distribution center for the US by loading/unloading incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring that goods are put away properly in the warehouse and that the shipments get prepared timely and adequately to avoid damage during transportation, and maintaining accurate inventory records.
~Leads operations and activities in GR Daniels warehouse #5 independently.
Leadership:
~To provide leadership and coordinate the work of the on-site warehouse operators and secure safe operations within the distribution center.
~Analyze problems and determine appropriate action to be taken.
~Serves as backup to the warehouse supervisor: monitors and controls shift operation according to GMPs and Safety SOPs.
Shipping:
~Prepares shipments by picking and repalletizing products, building stable shipping units to minimize transportation damage, and ensuring proper labeling of the outgoing shipments.
~Needs to have a thorough understanding of the methods and means to secure loads for road, sea, and air transport and apply safe loading practices.
~Ensure compliance with Lallemand’s shipping procedure and standards and adhere to customer-specific shipping instructions as communicated.
~Apply the Four Eyes Principle by examining all outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet all requirements and paperwork.
~Inspect trailers prior to loading for potential damage, obvious technical issues, leaks, and general cleanliness.
~Use appropriate material handling equipment to load shipping container(s) to distribute weight according to DOT specifications.
~Completes necessary paperwork neatly and accurately and submits it within the timeframe required.
Receiving:
~Unload shipment according to unloading procedure.
~Check the shipment against the paperwork for completeness.
~Document any damage or irregularity and submit it within the time frame required.
~Put away the materials received in the designated storage areas and racking.
Warehouse Operations:
~Organize the warehouse appropriately to facilitate efficient order picking.
~Ensure that products are stored in the designated storage areas, including segregation of allergens, hazards, and organic material.
~Perform warehouse inspections daily.
Inventory Accuracy & Systems:
~Ensure that the physical inventory is correctly reflected in UNIX
~Execute inventory counts as requested
~Key user for Barcode systems and printers on-site.
Miscellaneous:
~Ensure the Material Handling Equipment in the facility is in good working order at all times by performing daily inspections.
~Ensure that forklift and reach truck batteries are charged according to the battery loading best practices and that appropriate PPE are used.
~Manage and supervise service delivery by contracted 3rd parties where applicable.
~Back up other warehouse team members in case of absence.
~Other duties assigned
Sanitation:
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Maintain master sanitation schedule.
Safety:
~Follow all Company’s safety SOPs and MSDS recommendations.
~Attend all mandatory safety training and meetings.
~Responsible for reporting food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
~Apply safe loading and unloading practices
~Ensure that visitors (truck drivers, mechanics, etc.) are at all times supervised when in the building (not applicable to Lallemand employees).
Product Quality:
~Follow Company GMP’s.
~Observe environmental storage requirements.
Technical skills
Required
~5 years of experience in a Distribution Warehouse Environment (preferably in a high bay warehouse).
~2 years of People Management Experience
~Must meet standards of SCBA
~Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
~Often lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
~Rarely lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.
~Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
~Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus
Personal abilities

~Good communication skills
~Needs to be able to work precisely and accurately
